SAFEGUARDINGSTATEMENT & POLICIES
Safeguarding Policies and other school policies are all available upon request from Grace. All of the Sparkies staff are trained in safeguarding and pediatric First Aid.
At Sparkies all children deserve the finest imaginable start in life together with the encouragement that enables them to realise their potential.
A child’s experience between birth and age five has a key bearing on their future life chances. A childhood that embraces security, safety, and a smile is the right of all children.
At Sparkies, we offer a balanced and broadly based curriculum which has been developed around the Early Years Foundation Stage as compiled by the DFES.
At the core of this are the seven areas of learning and development that shape our curriculum. Each area of learning is as important as the next.
The three prime areas are:
Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
The four specific areas through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied are:
Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

STRUCTURE & RHYTHM OF THE DAY
The underlying structure and rhythm of the day remains constant, providing the stability that enables children to confidently explore and enjoy new experiences, beginning with a welcome at the door. Children enter to find a space set up to encourage free flow and a choice of activities. Some activities are practitioner-supported for planned learning outcomes and are designed with children's individual needs and interests in mind. Others are set up to broaden the benefits of the learning process by providing challenges and extending the activities where opportunities present, often following the lead of the children.
